Retro Sweets - Sweet Treats for All Ages
Posted on: November 10 2016
Does the thought of Black Jacks or Flying Saucers take your fancy? Maybe even a Sherbet Fountain? Our fantastic range of retro sweets is sure to take you on a trip down memory lane to carefree childhood days and includes all of your favourite retro sweets straight from your school days. Whether traditional penny sweets are your favourite, or you are a fan of all things sour, we have something for everyone to enjoy here at Keep It Sweet, so sit down, relax and take a look through our brilliant selection…
All of our retro sweets are categorised into the eras they are from. One of our favourite eras for sweets and all things sugary was the 80s. As you’d expect from the crazy lycra, perms and neon colours of the 80s, the sweets were just as wild! Some of the most iconic 80s delights include Fruit Salads, Fizz Wiz and Candy Necklaces - if that isn’t making your mouth water then we don’t know what will! And not only do 80s retro sweets taste truly scrumptious, but they are also brilliantly brightly coloured and look just as great as they taste. From electric blue coloured Taffy to multi coloured Crazy Beans, you are never in for a dull sight! Why not fill one of our plastic sweet jars with these fantastically colourful sweets to double up as a brilliant coffee table addition? (That’s if the sweets last long enough to be seen!)
One of the most famous retro sweets of all time is Lovehearts. Originally used for Christmas cracker sweets, these iconic favourites taste out of this world and were even chosen as an icon of the 20th century! Tuck into a roll of these delicious treats or why not spread the love amongst your family and friends with rolls of Mini Lovehearts? We even stock Mini Loveheart Cubes and Pyramids that make the perfect sweet wedding favour and are a sure way to put a smile on your guests’ faces.
Along with Mini Lovehearts, we also stock a fantastic range of wedding sweets and favours involving retro sweets to add an extra sweet touch to your big day. One of our favourite options is Fish and Chip Cones. The traditional English meal just got better, now it comes in the form of deliciously creamy white chocolate pieces, without all the grease! What’s not to like!? Fill your guests with nostalgic memories and give them the perfect sugar boost they need to get them up on the dance floor! Also perfect for weddings are Sweet Bars. These beautiful glass jars are filled with all the best retro sweets from years gone by, including Jelly Babies, Foam Bananas and fruity Fizzers. Along with tongs and scoops for a realistic traditional feel, this is sure to be a hit with your guests and is perfect for catering for parties and events of all sizes.
As part of our extensive retro sweets range we also have plenty of traditional and more classic sweets to bring back memories of the days of penny sweets and the old sweet shop on the corner. There was nothing like picking a bag of Strawberry Bon Bons on the way home from school or sneakily spending your pocket money on as many Cola Cubes as you could fit in your pockets! Other traditional sweets that are sure to ring a bell and get your mouth watering are the many different types of boiled sweets. Available in a huge range of different shapes, colours and flavours, Boiled Sweets are some of the oldest retro sweets around and will simply never get old! Lemon Sherbets are one of the most iconic options and taste oh so tangy and tongue tingling! Why not take a fun twist on these traditional delights and try Blue Lemon Sherbets? They are exactly what they say on the tin and may even turn your tongue a very fun colour! Black Jacks are another truly iconic favourite which will also turn your tongue an interesting shade. These fantastic chew sweets are made with aniseed, one of the oldest sweet ingredients ever. Did you know that in Medieval times it was used to protect people from the curse of the evil eye? Packed full of history and completely delicious, what more can you ask from this tasty treat!?
If you can’t decide which retro sweets to choose, why not take a look at our range of themed and personalised sweet jars containing a brilliant selection of all our sweets. Our British Jar is just one of our themed jars that are ready filled for your convenience and would make the perfect give for all ages. Filled with Flumps, Curly Wurlys, White Mice and more, there is no greater way to feel patriotic than with retro sweets if you ask us! Or why not add an extra special and unique touch to a gift with a Personalised Sweet Jar? Add your own message to a sweet jar and create a present that is sure to make somebody’s day and that will be remembered for years to come.
